    New: Multi disciplinary meeting

In the Netherlands are a lot of developments going on to optimize the obstetric care. That is also the case in Eindhoven.
For this we developed the Multi Disciplinary Meeting, which will start in january 2015.

In the Multi Disciplinary Meeting all pregnant women are discussed together with different kinds of obstetric caregivers: midwives, gynaecologists, pediatricians and, if necessary, somebody from the consultationbureau or for example a psychiatrist. Together they discuss what is the best care for that particular pregnancy. Normal check-ups with the midwife or extra check-ups with a gynaecologist? Standard check-ups or extra ultrasounds necessary? Can the woman choose where to deliver or do we advise a hospital delivery?

At this moment our practice takes place in thet multidisciplinary meeting with the Maxima Medisch Centrum. Ofcourse if important things arise from the meeting, we will discuss this with you.

    NIPT (non invasive prenatal testing)

Starting the first of april 2014 it is possible to perform the NIPT, the Non Invasive Prenatal Test.
The NIPT is a test in which the blood of the mother is used to test in a laboratory to see if the unborn child possibly has the diseases trisomy 21 (Downsyndrome), trisomy 18 (Edwards syndrome) or trisomy 13 (Patau's syndrome).

At this moment, in the Netherlands the NIPT can only be done as part of the TRIDENT study. Purpose of the study is to see what is the best way to offer the NIPT to the population (for example logistics).

During the study-period the NIPT can only be done by women who have had a nuchal translucency test which said that there is a higher risk of trisomy 21, 13 or 18. In a few exceptions NIPT kan also be done without the result of a nuchal translucency test.

For more information you can ask us or go to the site of the NIPT and TRIDENT study (in Dutch).

    Ultrasounds at our practice

Since october 2013 Geertje is certified to make ultrasounds. In december 2013 we started making ultrasounds at our own practice.
The following ultrasounds that we can make in our practice:
-Ultrasound 8 weeks: to see if there is a heartbeat and to see if the pregnancy is located in the uterus
-Ultrasound 10-11 weeks: to determine the exact due date
-Ultrasound 34 weeks: to make sure that the baby is in the right position
For an ultrasound to measure the nuchal translucency (test for Down-syndrome) and an ultrasound at 20 weeks we use the expertice and equipment of Diagnostiek voor U.
